He is determined to return her to London where she belongs and is furious at how she flouts social conventions. While he succeeds in having her dress, both are unaware that Saber secretly watched her bathe, and that he liked what he saw. However, and this is what I admire about Nick, she is no weeping Miss and when Saber pushes his luck she gives as good as she gets. Of course the physical chemistry is undeniably strong and thus begins the journey in which we see both characters restored to their rightful place in the world.
I love books where the hero and heroine are kept from being together by pride, history and emotional conflict. Once installed again in England, they are still very much physically attracted to each other despite the fact that Nichole is now a respectable young lady. The Anglo-American spy angle and distant rumbles of war allow the author to provide a rich backstory to My Lady Vixen. In this book I was riveted. My Lady Vixen is unfortunately and criminally! Buy My Lady Vixen: Dee Sains Review Date: February 2, Publication Date: A Sensuality Hot Book Type: Alexa goes off on visits to the country to see David but doesn't disclose her purpose to Adam and he becomes jealous so he takes up with the prostitute again still no sex. Eventually he realises he loves his wife and chases after her with a view to killing her lover, David, only to find it is his son, that they all love each other and go merrily off to bed together. Absurdly crazy Plot and I can't honestly say that I actually liked any of them by the end but I couldn't put it down.

In hindsight, I should have thrown it in the trash long before finishing it, but being a fan of this author I could not believe the premise this one took and thought it would turn around. The main male character Adam was a complete asshole that never redeemed himself.
His character started out with him on a mission of revenge for something Alexa's family did Set in , mostly in England this book was one of the worst historical romance books I have ever had the misfortune to read. His character started out with him on a mission of revenge for something Alexa's family did and she knew nothing about.
He kidnapped and raped her over a period of a month or two with the sole intention of getting her pregnant and dropping her back on her father's doorstep. To make matters worse, Alexa's father--who adored her--kicked her to the street. So much for unconditional parental love. She ended up going to America to seek out the All the while, Alex has been having sex with another woman.
It just got worse. Adam had sex with different females including a prostitute. This one sent my tolerance meter through the roof! Alex should have been taken out and shot--along with dear old dad. Jun 09, SmartBitches rated it it was ok Shelves: His intention is to ruin her by banging her senseless for a week or so before delivering her back to her father, ruined in reputation, blah blah blah. There are a lot of words in this book to describe not a lot happening. I mean, a lot happens, but I distilled it down into a two page summary.
They tend to have the best vintage of crazysauce.
Alexa becomes the greatest pirate queen evar with three months of training. Did I mention she had purple eyes? Sep 25, Elle rated it liked it. I was torn throughout on this one. The author successfully engaged my emotions and enlisted my empathy for the heroine, so I have to say I liked it on the whole. But that's also why I was so frustrated through the story, and why I really needed to see the alpha-jerk "hero" show real, honest remorse, not just "gee, sweetie, I'm sorry I hurt your little feelings," but a real gut check that shows he's a better man.
The "hero" initially abducts the heroine as part of a scheme to avenge his father, w I was torn throughout on this one. The "hero" initially abducts the heroine as part of a scheme to avenge his father, who was killed by her father in a duel when they both were very young. He reckons it would be payment in kind if he took from her father someone he loved. He plans to take the heroine, rape her awhile and yes, honey, it's rape if she says no, even if you manage to force her to eventually start responding , then return her, shamed and ruined, to her father.
His best friend, a decent enough guy, knows and disapproves of the plan but he won't help her even when she begs. Later this guy has the hypocrisy to be angry with the hero when her father casts her out and she's left pregnant. Never is he angry with himself for not doing the right thing, and that's the problem all through the story. Even in the very end, he rapes her again, then brings a whore home for dinner to humiliate her, so there's no reason to think he's changed, just because he finally realizes he was wrong about her.
Next time he misunderstands something, he'll be trying to torture her again.

He says he's sorry when he realizes he misunderstood the situation, but you can only say you're sorry so many times before anyone with a brain realizes that you're really not. That's not love and it's not a HEA. This one gets three stars because I cared enough to get angry, but it loses two because the hero really didn't deserve to get the girl. Nov 28, Michelle Connolly rated it it was ok Shelves: This book was cheesy, unrealistic, weird, boring at times, exciting at some point, ridiculous, laughable, silly This was just ridiculous! You don't need to see a person's face to recognize them if you're having sex with them, fgs!
But what's worse, Adam Hmm But what's worse, Adam could tell the Vixen was his wife just by looking at her naked body Jan 07, Splage rated it liked it Shelves: Typical bodice ripper with forced seduction, adultery, revenge, jealousy, love triangles, lots of adventure. Characterizations were not overly connecting with me, but there was lots of excitement with the plot. It seemed very Beatrice Small to me with the characters really hating each other until they were madly in love in the last 20 pages also some harshness and cruelty from H to h.
I do usually like this author's style and I have read some better books by her, but I did like this one. Jan 05, McKenna rated it it was ok. This book came out in the 'Bodice Ripper' era of books. And none of these books have aged well. What was acceptable in the 80's and 90's is just not considered romantic now. This one is not one of Connie Mason's that aged well. I suggest Black Knight if you are looking for a good read from this author. Jan 24, Cecilia rated it really liked it.
This is an all-time favorite of mine. I loved it so much I sought it out again four years later, then read it again and again as an adult. It may not be the best, but I can't give it any less than four stars for nostalgia purposes!
May 22, Emmie rated it did not like it. What kind of a hero is this? Jul 04, Sarah Johnston rated it it was amazing. I loved every bit of this book, from their forced situation, their adventure, their passion for one another. I don't want to ruin it with giving away to the plot too much.

In true Mason fashion I greatly enjoyed the characters and story line- it was a good mix of adventure, pirating, and history. Individually I loved the characters of Alexa and Adam. They were a good mixture of complex and likability for very different reasons. I loved Alexa's character growth in particular from a young powerless English miss to the privateer vixen fighting on the seas to help the American Revolution. Where the story fell short, as often happens with Mason's books, the relationship between Adam and Alexa doesn't really reach a believable romantic level. The fact that Alexa is kidnapped and held captive for three months for sex by Adam as a method of revenge, while he seduces her rather than forces her, it still seems insulting to women how easily Alexa gave in even while telling herself she should be denying him. During those three months they literally only have sex and are never once described as having a single meaningful conversation-- or a conversation at all, but she still ends up in love with him at that time.
Surisingly the couple don't seem to spend enough time together to fall in love and when they are its all sex-- I will say there is a deep admiration between the two for their willingness to fight for what is right and strength, but due to lack of time and discussion between them I don't find it believable for that admiration to go into the romantic area. Ironicly, the discussions these two have are really only fights where they discuss precieved betrayals-- which could easily be taken care of if they had actual discussions.
Despite this I was pleased to feel that by the end each character had developed well individually and the relationship did become believable as a romantic relationship. By the end I also found myself a little annoyed that the main reason Adam even kidnapped her to begin with seems pointless in the overall story-- it should have been brought in as more of a major plot point.

Over the years I have had to continuously downsize my collection of books. It has always been an emotional experience for me. This book has stayed with me for over 10 years now. I love a great romance book! But what really set this book apart from the rest for me, was the fact that it has a strong female lead.
That can be a rare treat in a romance novel.

I love how it is written. Now that I am a Goodreads member, I will be looking for more books written by this very talented author. Hero's old flame manages to make the heroine's life hell. Despite those worn-out tropes I did enjoy this book. Sometimes, these old fashioned bodice rippers are just fun. Dec 16, Kristen Simelton rated it it was amazing. This was the first historical romance I ever read I was in high school, and I was hooked!!! Connie Mason is a wonderful writer, she had me going through a wide range of emotions throughout the entire novel..
I reread it as an adult a few years ago and fell in love with it all over again. I sent her an email praising her writing and she replied, I was very excited about that.. Apr 19, Amy Diaz rated it it was amazing. Love the hero disguising himself as someone else and making the heroine believe she slept with two different men when it was one in the same all along. I also love how she kind of got back at him by becoming a famous female pirate with the respect of her men and learning to sword fight even took on the H in a duel which ended up in steaming hot sex. Always love Connie Mason's hot love scenes.
